First Lady, Aisha Buhari; Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman; Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) President Amaju Pinnick and President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Advisor on Sports Daniel Amokachi, among others, are among the personalities nominated for special honors at the 2022 Nigeria Pitch Awards, have revealed the organizers.

Yesterday, award organizers Matchmakers Consult at a press conference in Lagos announced that voting for the eighth edition of the awards would begin the last week of October, adding that the award ceremony would be held tentatively. March 26, 2022.

According to Matchmakers Consult President Shina Philips, the talks are the first in a series of commitments ahead of the awards ceremony.

“Since the start of the Nigeria Pitch Awards, we have seen a resurgence of interest in identifying with a credible award system from members of the football community including Super Eagles, footballers, officials and officials. sports journalists, who look forward to the annual celebration of talent, industry, commitment and patriotism.

“In total, more than 170 sports journalists across the country were involved in the voting process at different times. It is arguably the largest pool of sports professionals in any award process in the country. ”

Philips revealed that the highlight of the awards ceremony included the presentation of a special award for athletic achievement to First Lady Aisha Buhari, who recently hosted an international invitational women’s football tournament, adding: ” Inspector General of Police Alkali Usman will be honored with the Sportsmanship Award for his introduction of Operation Restore Peace to the Southeast and South South.

“IGP Alkali is also passionate about sports as he demonstrated during the biennial Police Games in Awka in 2020.

Others to be honored are the President’s Senior Special Assistant for Sports, Mr. Daniel Amokachi, who played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s first World Cup appearance and Amaju Melvin Pinnick for his contributions to advancement. Nigerian football, as well as its representation of the country at the highest level in world football.
