Austin Stacks rewarded for beating Champions in quarter-finals against South Kerry


Austin Stacks – winner of the reigning County Champions of East Kerry – will face South Kerry in the quarterfinals of the Kerry Senior Football Championship next weekend.

today’s draw pitted senior club championship winners, Stacks, against South Kerry, while another true title contender, Dr Crokes, faces Templenoe.

The remaining quarter-finals are the all-club encounter of Dingle and Kerins O’Rahillys, while Legion will face divisional team St Brendans.

The Legion v St Brendan’s and Dr Crokes v Templenoe matches are repetitions of the 2020 quarterfinals, which St Brendan and Dr Crokes won respectively.

The date, times and locations of the quarterfinals will be confirmed in due course by Kerry GAA CCC, although it is understood that Austin Stack Park and Fitzgerald Stadium will each host a doubles.

Kerryman understands that Legion v St Brendans and Dingle v Kerins O’Rahillys will form a double header Saturday night at Tralee at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., while Templenoe v Dr Crokes and Austin Stacks v South Kerry will be in Killarney on Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. . , subject to confirmation.

In the first round, Austin Stacks won 1-7 to 1-5 over East Kerry, while Kerins O’Rahillys defeated St Kierans 1-16 to 0-9 in the first of a double on Saturday night at Austin Stack Park in front of a large crowd.

Earlier on Saturday, the Legion won a sudden-death penalty shootout against Killarney rivals Spa, after the teams finished tied 1-13, 0-16 after extra time at Fitzgerald Stadium.

The other first-round game on Saturday at Milltown saw South Kerry win comfortably 2-16 to 0-5 over the Feale Rangers.

On Sunday, Templenoe was a 1-9 to 0-5 winner over Shannon Rangers in excruciating conditions at Fitzgerald Stadium, while in the second of a double at Killarney, St Brendan defeated Kenmare Shamrocks by 2-9 to 0-10 .

At Tralee on Sunday, Dr Crokes easily counted West Kerry 0-13 to 1-3, while Dingle was the last team to reserve their spot in the quarterfinals, beating Mid Kerry by 1-7 to 0-8 to Austin. Battery park.
